Fara is an internationally recognised and published Medical Scientist who has recently been at the forefront of New Zealand’s fight against the Covid 19 Pandemic. She has over 6 years of International training in Aesthetics, Hair Transplant and Skin rejuvenation.
“I started my Tertiary education at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, obtaining my BSc (Hons) in 1995 and then embarked on my PhD, graduating in 2004 . My main dissertation focused on deciphering complexities associated with signal transduction in Basel Cell Carcinoma (BCC).
In 2006, I moved to New Zealand to join the Liggins Institute at the University of Auckland as an NRCGD research fellow, working on epigenetic regulation of human embryo implantation.
In 2008, I moved into the area of molecular diagnosis and was promoted to section leader at LabPLUS within Auckland Hospital- a position I held until my resignation, in 2021, to provide full time Aesthetic services to my patients.
During the last 12 months I have been at the forefront of the team managing the current COVID-19 pandemic and prior to that, a similar role, managing the Swine Flu pandemic, MERS and the ZIKA virus outbreaks.
I am a multi published author and a technical expert for International Accreditation New Zealand in the field of Medical Testing.
I was pivotal in establishing guidelines for HPV testing as a member of the National Screening Unit of the ministry of Health National Cervical Screening Program. I was also a committee member and representative for the New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Science (NZIMLS) and of the National Cervical Pathology Training Service (NZPTS), to support the development, organisation and delivery of HPV training in New Zealand.
I served on the board of the New Zealand Dental Research Foundation, reviewing and allocating funding for research applications.
I have been, and am registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Board of New Zealand, since 2008.
My second career, and passion, as an Aesthetician started in 2005 and I have completed Diploma training in Appearance Medicine including, Botulinum Toxin, Dermal Fillers, All Platelet Rich (PRP) therapies. I have also achieved Diplomas in many advanced treatment therapies including PDO and PCL Threads, Hair Transplantation as well as being fully accredited on Medical Grade and IPL Lasers. I recently completed training on the Cooltech and Ulfit body sculpting machines as well as the Tesla Former body systems.
I am a trainer and lecturer for the Medical Aesthetic Training Academy (MATA), an Internationally recognised academic body and I am soon to complete my Masters Level Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine.
